The Visitor is a horror/ adventure game featuring a tiny alien critter. It “evolves” every time he devours prey. It also takes on certain characteristics and physic features of his prey. As the story unfolds, it finds a house near where it’s meteor landed. The concept is pretty fun. And since I am no good at writing intros I am just gonna skip to the good part, the ever so awesome review.
In the beginning of The Visitor you begin as a tiny maggot sized creature that evolves by devouring creatures larger than itself. By the end of the story, you are flying cat sized alien capable of using telepathy to attack it’s prey. The creativity that goes along with making your way through the house is somewhat ingenious and it will really test your mind. Graphics wise, they are pretty good for something hand drawn and I don’t think I could ever do better. A couple drawbacks to this game include the amount of gore and there is also the fact that the entire game can be cheated through by just hitting tab.
Walkthrough:
At the start of the game click on the branch sticking out of the tree to make it fall into the water, click the fallen branch and then click the frog to have it swallow you. Now click on the hole in the tree to attract the bird to it. Click where the bird used to be and then click the fishing rod. After the rod is set up,now click on the meteor to make a fish swim towards the rod. click the Visitor to have him jump onto the rod. Click the reel several times to launch the Visitor.
Click on the door knob and then on the apple. Now click on the web and the door knob again. Now try to go through the crack near the cat, you can’t, so click on the top of the screen above the Visitor. Now click on the valves a few times until you appear back on the ledge (I don’t know the exact combo). Now click on the cat to kill it and click on the doorknob once more. In the kitchen click on the blender lid then on the oranges to put them into the blender, close the blender and start it up. This next part has to happen quickly. Now Open the blender, turn on the sink, open the top drawer nearest you and click on the knife in quick succession. Next click on the thermostat several times until the vent above the fridge opens. Click on the Visitor, then the light bulb, now click on the vent and continue into the bedroom.
Ok, almost to the end now. click on the vent then the fish. Click on the bird, and then click on the Visitor and then hide in the pile of clothes. and then click on the bird to kill it. click on the pile of clothes to fly out and then kill the man in the top bunk. Click the visitor again to hide under the bed. Click on the man in the bottom bunk to kill him.
Now this can be divided into 2 parts, the regular ending and the 1-survivor ending.
*Note* You can replay the last scene over again to get both badges without replaying
the game.
Regular Ending: Wait for the alien to come and kill you.
1-Survivor Ending: Click on the door, and turn on the bathtub faucet. Click on the toilet paper and click on the toilet bowl and flush the toilet. Also, turn on the sink faucet and open up the right cabinet. Click on the purple dryer and click on the outlet, then click in the sink to cause a short circuit and blow open the left cabinet revealing a gun, click on the gun until it is out of bullets and then click it a few more times to bash in the creatures head and TADA! You win.
Rating Summary:
The Badges: 3/5
The badges lacked creativity but, not much else can be expected from a game with a very linear story.
Graphics: 4/5
Overall the artwork in The Visitor was pretty amazing, the gore was very nicely drawn and overall pretty good for a flash game.
Game play: 4/5
ZeeBarf (what a name) delivered to us one very fun game that envelopes you in the mindset of The Visitor and manages to create a deeply gratifying end. Hopefully, this sets us up for a sequel which would should be just as fun as the original. There is also multiple endings which is always great to enhance the gameplay.
Overall The Visitor is a very enjoyable game and with a great story line that gives the player an experience worth remembering. The Badges are lacking in creativity, but as stated in the summary, it’s understandable.
